COMMUNITIES TURN OUT IN FORCE FOR
INCINERATOR MEETINGS
Residents
on both sides of Cork Harbour turned out in force last night (Wed 11th
Feb) to attend meetings held by CHASE (Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment)
in Carrigaline and in Cobh. The meetings were held as part of
a public information series about the Ringaskiddy Incinerator,
and 'What's Next?'
There
was standing room only at Carrigaline Community Centre, and a packed hall at
the Commodore Hotel, Cobh with a huge attendance of over 500
people.
A
Spokesperson for Cobh Action for a Clean Air, who held the Cobh
meeting said "A huge crowd attended this meeting. People
turned out from every sector, business, health, tourism,
concerned parents, local industry employees, everyone was
represented and everyone was motivated. The feedback
from this meeting is that the community is united in
opposition to this incinerator, and people are committed to do
whatever it takes to stop it going ahead."
The next meeting in the
series will take place in Monkstown Golf Club, on Tuesday the
l7th of Feb., at 8. o'clock.
