PRESS RELEASE - December 8, 2004 CHASE CHAIRPERSON HONOURED WITH ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD CHASE Chairperson, Mary O’Leary, is tonight being honoured at the Cork Environmental Forum Awards, where she will be presented with the Individuals Award recognizing how her work with CHASE has brought the message of Zero Waste into mainstream thinking in the last year. The award will be presented by Minister of State, Mr Batt O’Keeffe TD at 8.30pm tonight at the Firkin Crane in Shandon, Cork City. Referring to the award, Mary O’Leary said “I dedicate the award to everyone working beside me in CHASE. It is an indication of how far the agenda has changed in the three years since CHASE was established. Zero Waste is now a mainstream concept, and we will continue to endeavor to make it policy in Ireland. I am honoured to accept the award alongside the other six recipients working towards a better environment for Cork, and a sustainable future.” Cork Environmental Forum was set up by Cork County Council in 1995, with its main objective “To Foster, promote and implement sustainable development within the Cork Region”.
