CHASE Press Release - 07-05-09
NRA Seek Road Contribution From Indaver, And Recommend Restrictions On Waste Acceptance Times

The National Roads Authority (NRA) confirmed to today's Oral hearing that the upgrade of the N28 Road to Ringaskiddy is not on the current programme of works and because of the current economic climate, it is not in a position to give a precise timescale for delivery of the N28 upgrade scheme.

The NRA also said that costs or an appropriate contribution for the portion of the road relating specifically to their development should be met by Indaver. Tara Spain, Senior Policy Advisor for the NRA stated "Should the Board grant planning..... the Authority requests attachment of a condition for a development contribution of €564,321.01 towards the cost of upgrading works on the N28."

The NRA also recommended that the facility should receive waste outside of peak traffic hours, and suggested specific exclusion times. Cork County Council concurred with the recommendation that the facility would not be permitted to receiving traffic before 10am, and that no traffic go to or from the facility between 4-5pm, as traffic is already at capacity during these peak flow times.

The hearing continues tomorrow with Indaver outlining a 'what if' accident scenario and taking related questions. Myrtle Allen from Ballymaloe House is expected to present in the afternoon.
