MAY I congratulate Indaver Ireland on its choice of location for the construction of a proposed national hazardous waste incinerator. As any resident of, or visitor to, the area can confirm, Friday, August 8, provided a perfect example of the thermal inversions that are so frequently experienced in Cork Harbour. While the rest of the city enjoyed balmy sunshine, the harbour valley lay shrouded in a blanket of fog. What a relief to find Indaver so aware of modern waste management principles, clearly favouring the concept of ‘containment’ for the airborne emissions from its proposed incinerator rather than the outdated practice of ‘dilute and disperse.’ Marcia K D’Alton, Irish Examiner - 20th Aug 2004 |
